About Barbara Jacobs
Welcome to the gallery for my personal art work. The images you will see here are works that I have done simply for my own inspiration and pleasure. They were not done as commissioned pieces that, as such, would have been based on the requirements of others.
You can find out more about my color consultation services for home and business at https://www.bjacobscolordesign.com
And find out about my inspiration and process for the work you see here, and much more!

I enjoy working in a variety of media and styles, including photography and digitally-created designs. Simple and minimalist; highly textured and dimensional; direct-printed and mixed media; combined digital and physical media...I love to explore in color, shape, texture, various materials; vision, subject, and more.
For the most part they are a smaller scale. But you’ll notice that some of the products on the Fine Art America platform can be customized depending on the product you’ve selected.
Color and layering have always held a great fascination for me, even back when I was in art school at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze in Florence, Italy; the University of California, Berkeley, where I studied with Adja Yunkers and David Hockney; and the University of Minnesota, where I received my BA in studio art with a concentration in painting and printmaking.
In addition to private commission work, I enjoy participating in exhibitions whenever possible. While living in Massachusetts, from 1986 to 1990 I was awarded grants from the Massachusetts Council on the Arts to teach design seminars on the traditional design methods and decorative arts techniques of many cultures. In 2000 I was awarded color design accreditation by the IACC (International Association of Color Consultants/Designers), the subject of her thesis project being on the importance of color in the elementary school environment. My work has been shown internationally through the IACC.
My programs on color and design have been enjoyed by audiences in various educational settings; grants to teach high school students, architects, and in professional organizations like NeoCon in Atlanta and Chicago.
"Windows to Imagination," my new coloring book, combines my color and design experience and my original artwork. Check it out at www.amazon.com
